Playstation Plus
Sony have announced an upgrade to their standard service on the Playstation Network. It’s called Playstation Plus and caters for the more serious and committed gamer offering various services that are unavailable to standard users.
First off, the bad news. It isn’t free. You have a choice between two subscription services, one lasting 90 days and the other for an entire year. For the U.K, the prices are £11.99 for 3 months and £39.99 for the year. Bit of a step up from the normally free service on the PSN but from here things look up considerably. Each month there will be 4 releases which are free to Playstation Plus account holders. These are one PSN game, 2 minis and a PsOne Classic. These are available for a month until the next offer arrives. These games are yours to keep and are not bound to any additional costs. The only way they can be deactivated is if your PS Plus account expires. However, if you renew your membership, the games are available to play again. If you delete a game and decide you want it back, you can simply download it again at no additional cost. If the game is replaced with a new offer, you can sinply search for it in the store and find it.
There is also offers of 2 additional themes and two avatars each month to download completely free. As well as that, there are also add-ons and other software features that are exclusively free to PS Plus members. Sony have also said they want to include some players in beta testing for new games and demos early, giving you the oppurtunity to be the first to see new releases.
There are some handy new software features and download services available as well. The first is a full game trial, wherby PS Plus players will download an entire game for free, play it with all it’s features for a set time and then be asked to purchase it. If you don’t like it, you can delete it from your hard drive without any problem. If you were impressed, you can buy it there and then and pick up immediatly where you left off.
The Automatic Download feature is a new addition to the Playstation’s software as well. You can set your PS3 to wake up at any time from standby to download demos, games, expansion packs etc… These will all install automatically when you come back to play again. This also includes software updates but these will only be downloaded as they still require a manual install. Another great bonus is the fact that some software you download (be it demos, games etc…) is usable on your PSP. So no seperate download required, just transfer it from your PS3 to your Portable.
This service is estimated to save gamers over £200 a year and is available from June 29th. It is promised to keep evolving like to standard PSN and should be a welcome deal to those who are looking for a little more to their gaming.

Welcome to cheap PSN cards, your first choice for PS3, PSP network cards
PlayStation network cards or sometimes known as ‘tickets’ are used to download content from the PlayStation Stores. these pre-paid cards can be used for both the PlayStation 3 and the PSP, and allow users to fund their ‘online wallet’ without the need for a credit card. There are many items on the PlayStation Network store that users are allowed to download for free, but if you are looking for premium content such as a full version of a particular game, or other content that will help you in your gaming experience, you will need to buy a Network card. Once the card is redeemed, you will be given access to PlayStations premium content. Unlike both Nintendo points and Microsoft points, PlayStation Network use real-world currencies (for example in the UK, purchases will be made in GBP)
